activities. Many water-related recreational options are also available as a result of Bureau of Reclamation projects. These bureaus make

The mission goals of the Department are significantly advanced through effective management of contracts in a manner that reduces risk, and achieves desired results that cost less. Through a combination of innovative procurement methods, the Department is focused on the achievement of goals that will leverage purchasing power, promote efficient business practices, and focus on development and retention of a skilled acquisition workforce.  Interior owns and operates 47,000 buildings and 112,000 structures including the iconic monuments and memorials on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., Hoover Dam straddling the border of Arizona and Nevada, and Bureau of Indian Education schools. These assets are treasured for their cultural and historic significance; scenic, recreational, and environmental values; functional purposes like water control; and in some cases the revenues they provide.
